On Sunday, 12 May 2024, at night at 2:42, in Šilalės district municipality, Stungaičių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 236.25), a Volkswagen Golf hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who committed other traffic rule violations. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
