On Sunday, 19 July 2015, in the evening at 20:04, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Aleksandrija–Ginkūnai national road (kilometre 1.30), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 307 registered in Great Britain and an Opel Vectra Station Wagon. Three people were injured — a 4-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt, was not in a child seat), a 54-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized) and a 6-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt, was not in a child seat). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Peugeot (17 years of driving experience), who violated passenger-transport rules, failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
