On Monday, 16 May 2016, at night at 1:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 22.50), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Porsche Panamera and a Peugeot 307. Three people were injured — the 22-year-old driver of the Peugeot (severely injured, hospitalized), a 23-year-old passenger of the Porsche (hospitalized) and a 1-year-old passenger of the Porsche (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Porsche (6 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
