On Tuesday, 6 December 2016, at night at 3:15, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 22), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
