On Thursday, 29 June 2023, in the evening at 19:50, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 22.30), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW X3 and a Volkswagen Polo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
