On Friday, 26 August 2016, at night at around 23:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 22.10), in a roadworks zone, a Volkswagen Sharan registered in Germany hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
