On Friday, 7 October 2016, in the evening at around 19:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 215.80), an Opel Vectra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Opel (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.94‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
