On Saturday, 24 December 2016, in the afternoon at 15:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 14.38), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Opel Signum and an Audi A2. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Opel (less than a year of driving experience), who fell asleep at the wheel and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
