On Thursday, 12 January 2017, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kaunas, on Gėlių Rato street, at the junction with J. Basanavičiaus al., a Saab 9-5 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Saab (4 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was snowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
