On Friday, 17 February 2017, in the evening at 18:30, in Kaunas, on Birželio 23-iosios street, at the junction with Partizanų street, a Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (10 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
