On Sunday, 17 December 2017, in the morning at 7:11, in Telšių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 69.47), a Peugeot 307 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Peugeot (11 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.45‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
