On Monday, 1 October 2018, in the morning at 6:40, in Šilalės district municipality, Katyčių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 225.95), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Scania, a LAG GAP16 and a Volvo FH12. Two people were injured — the 27-year-old driver of the Scania (treated as an outpatient) and the 50-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the Scania (8 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
