On Friday, 31 May 2024, in the evening at around 21:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Paupio village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 223.90), a BMW rolled over. Two people were injured — the 21-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient) and a 20-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
