On Wednesday, 31 October 2018, in the morning at 8:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 10.60), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Solaris Urbino 12 and a Ford Transit Connect. Three people were injured — a 49-year-old passenger of the Solaris (treated as an outpatient), the 53-year-old driver of the Ford (hospitalized) and a 79-year-old passenger of the Solaris (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Solaris (36 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
