On Thursday, 6 February 2020, in the morning at 6:50, in Tauragės district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 160.20), a Volkswagen Passat Variant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 78-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (44 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
