On Sunday, 21 June 2020, in the morning at 6:51, in Plungės district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 58.30), a Volvo V50 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.29‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
