On Wednesday, 24 June 2020, in the afternoon at 14:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 116.85), a BMW registered in Estonia hit an obstacle. One person died — the 36-year-old driver of the BMW. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the BMW (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
