On Thursday, 17 August 2023, in the evening at 22:50, in Birštono municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 91.15), an Audi A6 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.81‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
