On Saturday, 18 November 2023, in the evening at 17:15, in Šilutės district municipality, Verdainės village, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 181.40), a Skoda Superb hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Skoda (14 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.15‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
