On Friday, 5 January 2024, in the evening at around 17:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 7), in a roadworks zone, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz and a Peugeot. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (30 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
