DAF XF truck runs off the road on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas road
On Wednesday, 30 January 2013, in the evening at 20:50, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 62.65), a DAF XF 95.430 registered in Poland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Poland) (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
