On Thursday, 11 September 2014, in the evening at around 21:00, in Kauno city municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 3.85), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT 95XF.480, an Iveco 440E38, a Krone SDP27 and an Eggers Sckh 27EL. Two people were injured — the 66-year-old driver of the Iveco (hospitalized) and a 48-year-old passenger of the DAF (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the DAF (27 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
