On Thursday, 23 April 2015, in the morning at around 7:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Bijotų village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 210.50), a Peugeot 406 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who was driving fatigued, failed to choose a safe speed and fell asleep at the wheel. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
