On Wednesday, 20 January 2016, in the evening at 17:50, in Klaipėdos city municipality, on the Klaipėda–Veiviržėnai–Endriejavas regional road (kilometre 5.60), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Citroen C3 Pluriel and a Volvo. Two people were injured — the 51-year-old driver of the Citroen (hospitalized) and the 33-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Citroen (19 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
