On Friday, 9 December 2016, in the morning at 7:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 95), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel, a Seat Cordoba, a Nissan Almera, a Plymouth Grand Voyager, a BMW 5er Reihe, a DAF FA 1600 and a Schmitz -. One person was injured — the 51-year-old driver of the Nissan (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Opel (5 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
