On Friday, 9 August 2019, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 95), a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 315 CDI hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 68-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (2 years of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
