On Saturday, 14 October 2017, in the afternoon at 13:40, in Kaunas, on Jotvingių street, at the junction with Kuršių street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Citroen C4. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
