On Friday, 15 June 2018, in the evening at around 19:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 88.80), a Volvo S80 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Volvo (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.44‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
