On Monday, 31 December 2018, in the evening at around 21:00, in Vilnius, on Žaliakalnio Sodų 1-oji street near No. 1, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi A4 Avant and a Mazda 5. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the Audi (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 10 km/h.
