On Wednesday, 2 January 2019, in the evening at 20:39, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 279.37), a Nissan ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the Nissan (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
