On Wednesday, 16 September 2020, in the evening at 21:15, in Šilalės district municipality, Paupio village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 225.17), in a roadworks zone, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW X5, a Mercedes-Benz R320 and a Toyota Auris. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the BMW (20 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
