Drunk, unlicensed Yamaha quad bike driver runs off the road in Barskūnų village
On Tuesday, 17 October 2023, in the evening at 20:02, in Širvintų district municipality, Barskūnų village, on the Paberžė–Barskūnai–Medžiukai regional road (kilometre 7.43), a Yamaha ran off the road. One person was injured — the 47-year-old driver of the Yamaha (hospitalized, was not wearing a helmet). The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Yamaha, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
