Unlicensed Volkswagen Golf driver hits a pedestrian in Vileikiškių village
On Tuesday, 2 January 2024, in the evening at around 18:00, in Širvintų district municipality, Vileikiškių village, on Smailių street near No. 17, a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 20-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Volkswagen. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 5 km/h.
