On Friday, 19 April 2024, in the evening at 18:28, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 107), in a roadworks zone, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Caddy, a Toyota, an Audi and a Mercedes-Benz. Three people were injured — a 0-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), the 33-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient) and a 35-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (31 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
