On Tuesday, 30 April 2024, in the evening at 17:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 7.70), a BMW hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 62-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
