DAF truck and Mercedes-Benz truck crash on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga road
On Friday, 1 November 2024, in the morning at 10:45, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a DAF, a Mercedes-Benz and a Schmitz Cargobull. Two people were injured — the 25-year-old driver of the DAF (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and the 55-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the DAF (7 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
