On Thursday, 11 September 2025, in the afternoon at 15:40, in Mažeikių district municipality, Tirkšlių town, on Laukų street near No. 4, a BMW 335 i ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.87‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
