Ford Galaxy hits children at a crossing on Tilžės highway
On Thursday, 28 February 2013, in the afternoon at 11:50, in Tauragės district municipality, Taurų village, on Tilžės highway, at the junction with Žemaičių street, a Ford Galaxy hit two pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 11-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 11-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Ford (3 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 60 km/h.
