On Friday, 12 February 2016, in the evening at 21:22, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Mikniškės–Kurmelionys regional road (kilometre 0.40), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 207 and a Mitsubishi Pajero. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.60‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
