On Tuesday, 23 August 2016, in the evening at 18:40, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Pirčiupiai–Jašiūnai national road (kilometre 2.80), a Volkswagen Golf rolled over. Two people were injured — the 35-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 30-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober.
