On Saturday, 19 November 2016, at night at around 23:00, in Varėnos district municipality, Panočių village, on Mokyklos street, an Opel Astra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
