On Monday, 18 September 2017, in the afternoon at 13:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 10.30), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Hyundai i 20. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
