On Friday, 29 September 2017, in the evening at 18:50, in Šakių district municipality, Voverių village, on Aušros street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a MTZ Belarus 920 and a Volkswagen Transporter. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the MTZ, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
