On Thursday, 29 March 2018, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Joniškis–Žagarė–Naujoji Akmenė national road (kilometre 22.95), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen Sharan. One person was injured — the 55-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Sharan (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 67-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (30 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober.
