On Tuesday, 15 May 2018, in the evening at 22:47, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 61), a Ford Focus C-MAX ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Ford (34 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.67‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
