On Tuesday, 11 August 2020, in the evening at 19:30, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 61), a BMW X5 hit an obstacle. One person was injured — a 18-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the BMW (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
