On Wednesday, 31 October 2018, in the evening at 17:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 92), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Ford TRANSIT/TOURNEO and a BMW X5. One person was injured — a 11-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Ford (24 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
