On Thursday, 16 March 2023, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 84), a traffic accident occurred. The accident involved a Scania registered in Poland and a MAN. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the MAN (5 years of driving experience), who violated cargo-transport rules. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
