Drunk BMW driver hits a parked Citroen on the Vilnius–Lyda road
On Thursday, 28 March 2024, at night at 1:51, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Lyda main road (kilometre 48), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a BMW and a Citroen C4 Picasso registered in Belarus. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the BMW (10 years of driving experience). He was drunk (2.26‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
