On Monday, 16 September 2024, in the afternoon at 12:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 105.30), a Scania R 340 registered in Estonia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Scania (17 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
